Dermalogica’s Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum is a "high-dose" yet remarkably comfortable solution. It aims to deliver the results of a professional-grade retinoid minimising pores, smoothing texture, and reducing wrinkles while prioritising skin barrier health and recovery.

This serum is a multi-retinoid treatment that uses a high 3.5% *Retinoid Complex. Unlike standard retinol products that use a single form of the ingredient, this formula blends several types of Retinoids that work at different speeds and penetrate different layers of the skin, giving you many more benefits and results than any other brands.*Retinoids - are a class of vitamin-A based compounds that are used to improve skin health by increasing cell turnover, stimulating collagen production while unclogging and reducing pore sizes.

How to use it
To achieve the best results while minimising the risk of sensitivity, follow these steps:
- Cleanse: Start with a clean, dry face.
- Dispense: Apply a pea-sized amount (roughly half a pump to one full pump) to the face.
- Apply: Smooth a thin layer over the face and neck, ensuring you avoid the delicate eye area and the corners of the nose and mouth.
- Moisturise: Always follow with your prescribed Dermalogica moisturiser to lock in hydration.
- Protect: Retinol increases sun sensitivity. You MUST wear a broad-spectrum SPF during the day while using this product.
Top tip: When applying your Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum to your face, neck and chest, also apply it to the back of your hands to prevent signs of premature ageing and brown spots to the surface of your hands. Then pop your chosen evening moisturiser over the top. Then in the morning after applying you SPF to your face, neck and chest apply a layer of SPF over the back of your hands to protect them from sun damage.
When to use it
***Please Note - Retinoids are highly photo-sensitive which means it breaks down in daylight, so you MUST use all retinol based products in the evening away from sunlight and MUST be paired with an SPF product in the Mornings as the use of retinoids can increase skin sensitivity to the sun's rays.
This moisturiser is versatile but intense. You can use it:
- Evening Only: Retinol as I have already mentioned is broken down by sunlight and is best used during the skin's nocturnal repair cycle.
- The "Phasing-In" Period: If you are new to retinoids, use the serum twice a week (a few days apart) for the first two weeks. Gradually increase to every other night, and then nightly as your skin builds tolerance.
- Consistency: Once your skin has acclimated, nightly use provides the most dramatic results in evening out skin tone and texture.

I highly recommend that you use Dermalogica's Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 every Morning while using the Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum in the Evening.
Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 - is a *broad spectrum* , medium weight emollient designed to simplify your morning routine. Part of the brand's AGE Smart® range, it aims to protect against the primary causes of skin ageing while improving the appearance of photo damaged skin.
*Broad spectrum - means that the sunscreen shields the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
